The badlands soft sedimentary rock formations have been created over thousands of years of erosion from wind and water, Badlands are often found along river valleys in arid regions of the world, The Red Deer River Badlands stretch through an area of approximately 300 km along the Red Deer River in Alberta; much of the soil structure found in the badlands is a very absorbant clay called Bentonite.
