Totempole VIBC 09.jpg
The spiritual carved figure on a totem pole. The average lifespan of a totem pole is less than 100 years..Totem poles stood in Bowen Park in front of the duck pond for several decades. As they aged, in keeping with tradition, they were laid down so that they may slowly decay and return into the earth. They were moved from their original position next to the duck pond to an area in amongst the trees of Bowen Park..When totems become rotten and unstable, they are then laid down during a spiritual reconnection to the earth ceremony.
